See Ya Later 2020 Challenge
DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR LOGGING WORKOUTS
2020? Oh right - that year a global pandemic led to toilet paper shortages, virtual learning and the cancellation of sporting events including the Olympics. That year when we were binge watching series after series, debating the guilt of Carol Baskins, then we are hit with the news of spotted lantern flies and murder hornets?!?!
In all the bad news, there was a lot of good too - it just didn’t go as viral on social media. What’s our good news of 2020? Despite our limited fundraising abilities, the community that is Steps Together continued to be there for families in need. Our grants continued quarter after quarter helping local families during their hardest times. THANK YOU!
Like you, we are craving a live event, craving a workout together but know the limitations around such an event. That’s why we are so excited to announce our first ever hybrid event! We hope you will join us and continue to take life’s difficulties in stride.
Steps Together is beta testing this platform with its developers so not only are we having fun, exercising and supporting Steps Together - we are helping a group of grad students from Cornell Tech take their class project to reality.
What’s a hybrid event?
A hybrid event is real courses in our community that you walk or run at a date and time of your choice, in any order. Then using a platform provided by Tucan Fitness, we get as close as we can in this virtual world by watching each other finish, cheering each other on, uploading pics and well maybe competing a bit. All results are recorded using Strava (which is a free app).
Event Details
Registration will run through December 5th and is $30 with NO PROCESSING FEES. Registering your family? Each registrant will need their own email as the interactive maps and platform will be participant specific.
Courses can be completed between November 1st and December 31st - so yup, your annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot and Winter Holiday Run can be done with us!
For the competitive participants, you can complete and submit each course only once. If it’s not your best performance, hold off on syncing the data file until you are happy.
Long sleeve event shirts acknowledging our Community Partners will be ready 2 weeks after we close registration. Free porch pick up will be available in Hillsborough or you can add $5 at check out for direct shipping. (Community Partners are committed to sharing the mission of Steps Together in their networks and contributing $2,500 a year to the organization. This fee was waived this year due to the impact of the pandemic on small businesses yet they all continued to contribute to our organization by sharing our mission and/or with direct financial contributions.)
If you don’t live in or around Hillsborough and still want to participate, we encourage you to register and find 5 places in your community to walk or run. While you won’t be able to upload the results, you’ll still be supporting Steps Together. The same option is available for those who really just want the shirt. :)

This is awesome and so is Steps Together. How can I do more?
We always appreciate sharing about our events and mission with all your friends and family - be it email, social media or an old school phone call.
Facebook fundraisers are incredibly awesome.
Direct donations work too!
Holiday wish lists are also up for our families.
